The beautiful days are making their grand return! The sun is shining again for our greatest happiness.
But where there is sun, there is protection. Yes, it is essential to protect yourself from the sun's rays, especially during long meals on the terrace, extended relaxation moments by the pool, etc.
For this, nothing is better than a parasol. We help you choose a parasol suited to your needs and desires.
What type of parasol?
Indeed, there are several types of parasols to provide shade on your terrace, in your garden, or by the pool.
The straight parasol, the classic. It is particularly well suited to be placed in the middle of an outdoor table but with the help of parasol bases, you can also install it wherever you want in your garden or on your terrace. It is also possible to plant it directly in the sand on the beach.
Its fabric is round, square, or rectangular on a pole that can be made of wood, aluminum, or steel.
At Mobellia, we offer you several models of straight parasols: round shape or square shape with an aluminum pole.
The round straight parasol is particularly suitable for small spaces, small tables, especially round tables or a small garden lounge. The square or rectangular parasol offers a larger shaded area for the same span and can therefore easily be installed against a facade and is also suitable for large tables.
The tiltable parasol is quite similar to the straight parasol except that its pole is removable for quick and easy orientation depending on the sun's movement.
The offset parasol, the most sophisticated of all, as its name indicates, is not installed in the middle of a table but offset to the side. Tiltable and adjustable, it allows perfect juggling with the sun's orientation while letting you fully enjoy the floor space without being bothered by the parasol's base. Generally, the structure is aluminum to best resist weather conditions.
Our offset parasols allow 360° rotation around the pole and the crank facilitates opening, closing, and allows height adjustment to your liking.
The offset parasol offers a very large shaded area and adapts very easily depending on the sun's movement. It will protect large tables as well as large garden lounges.
What material?
It is essential to inform yourself about the composition of your parasol's fabric to ensure protection against the sun's rays and durability over time.
Most often, the fabrics are polyester or acrylic.
Polyester is more economical while being particularly resistant to sun and weather, provided it has been treated, of course.
The highest quality fabrics generally have a weight between 200 and 300g/m² and parasols whose fabric is treated with UV 50+ offer optimal protection.
As for fabric colors, we recommend avoiding bright colors. Indeed, despite treated fabric, they tend to fade faster with the sun.
Regarding the pole, it can be steel but to avoid rust, it must be epoxy treated.
Wood is a very aesthetic material but requires maintenance at least once a year.
Aluminum is light, stainless, and particularly resistant.
All Mobellia parasols are made of aluminum.
What opening system?
The push-button system, the most classic, is often used on straight parasols. This mechanism is suitable when the structure and fabric are light.
The crank is particularly ergonomic and easy to use because it requires almost no effort. This system is especially appreciated on large parasols.
Finally, the pulley system is also very effective, although less aesthetic than the crank and is easily repairable in case of problems.
What parasol bases?
Plastic bases, to be filled with water or sand, are an economical option and suitable for smaller parasols.
Cast iron, stone, or concrete bases are particularly suitable for the largest models.
Cross bases are complemented with slabs.
What wind resistance?
Finally, it is important to consider wind resistance depending on your place of residence if you are exposed to wind or not.
Our parasols are designed to withstand winds up to 25 km/h. Beyond this limit, we recommend closing your parasol or using ropes or straps to tie the parasol to fixed points on the ground or to solid objects.
In conclusion, to know how to choose your parasol, we recommend prioritizing adaptability to your outdoor spaces, ease of use, and the quality of materials used.
